    Camp Sherman is an unincorporated community in Jefferson County (97730 zip code) located north of Black Butte Ranch and Black Butte itself at an elevation of 2,963′. The “town” consists of the Camp Sherman Store & Fly Shop, Black Butte School (a public K-8 School), Sisters-Camp Sherman RFPD Station 704, and a U.S. Post Office. In addition to those, are a number of boutique-style resorts such as the Camp Sherman RV Park, Cold Springs Resort & RV Park, House on Metolius, Lake Creek Lodge, Metolius River Lodges, and Metolius River Resort.

    As you might expect, the Metolius River runs through this area. In fact, the Headwaters of the Metolius River (pictured) can be found at the northern base of Black Butte, where the river emerges – cold and fully formed – from several underground springs.

    For those desiring a more natural experience, several campgrounds are located along the Metolius River including the Allen Springs Campground, Allingham Campground, Camp Sherman Campground, Candle Creek Campground, Gorge Campground, Lower Bridge Campground, Pine Rest Campground, and Smiling River Campground. Among them, you’ll also find the Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery. – which significantly contributes to the area’s reputation as a world-class haven for fly-fishing.

    Both Lake Creek Lodge and Metolius River Resort occasionally have real estate for sale in the form of shared or wholly-owned luxury cabins.
