How To Search For Real Estate In Central Oregon Tips and tricks for finding your perfect home in central Oregon.

You are able to perform a variety of searches on this site. You can always search and refine your results by any combination of Price (min/max), Location, MLS Area, City, County, Zip Code, Neighborhood (subdivision), School, Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Acreage, Garage Spaces, Full Baths, Stories, Square Feet (min/max), and Days Listed. In addition to those characteristics, you can further search by other variables as well. In most cases, you can even combine variables for a more specific search.

To get started, simply start typing slowly in the search bar at the top of the page. As you type, the search engine will suggest options for you in a dropdown menu below the search bar. Pick the option you want – If possible, I recommend using the arrow keys on your keyboard to select – and hit Return/Enter to view the results. If you want to refine those results, simply add type another variable and hit return. The options you choose for any given search will be listed below the search bar and you can delete any of them at any time by clicking the “x” next to their name.

For example, type “Bend” in the search bar (without quotes). The system will give you options for Location, City, Area, School, etc. that you can choose from. For this example, pick “City – Bend, OR” and hit Return/Enter to see the results.

Now you can add something else – for example, “gated”. The system will suggest “Feature – Gated Community” or “Keyword – Gated.” Pick “Gated Community” and hit Return/Enter, and you will see all of the currently listed properties in Bend that are in gated communities.

Now type “two” and from the suggested options, choose “Two Story.” Hit Return/Enter to see the available Two-Story properties within Gated Communities in Bend.

As you can see, it is very easy to start wide and quickly narrow your search based on your preferred characteristics. The variables/options below are currently recognized by the search engine on this site. As you can see, there are a wide variety of search options available. Additionally, they are all linked as single-click quick searches for real estate in central Oregon.

Keywords
In addition to the recognized search terms above, you can also enter keywords into the search bar. An accepted list isn’t available. Instead, keywords are matched to text in the public remarks, street address, postal code, MLS number, and neighborhood fields on a listing’s full details page. As such, they are subject to availability and do change over time. An example of possible keyword use could be for architectural style. As you can see in the list above, our Central Oregon MLS only recognizes eleven (11) architectural styles. But there are numerous others that you may be able to find via a keyword search. For a list of examples, please see the Architectural Styles guide on this site.

MLS Client Portal

If the above options can’t get you the specific results you need, I can set up a targeted search for you directly within the Central Oregon Multiple Listing Service (MLS). The MLS has even more options that can help give your search a laser-like focus.

As with this website, an MLS Client Portal will give you the ability to “favorite” properties you like. Unlike this website, it will also give you the ability to reject the listings you don’t like. The rejected listings will be moved to a separate directory in your portal that you can always return to, but at the same time, it will prevent them from reappearing in your emailed property alerts.

If an MLS Client Portal sounds like something you would like to pursue, please let me know and I can get you set up at no cost.
