After Bend, the City of Redmond (el. 3,077′, zip code 97756) is the second-largest incorporated city west of the Cascade Range in Oregon. Redmond’s position at the intersection of US Highway 97 and US Highway 126 has made it a major hub within central Oregon. The region’s only commercial airport, Robert’s Field, is also located in Redmond and connects central Oregon with a number of major cities in the western half of the continental United States. Redmond enjoys a state-wide reputation for its progressive and innovative leadership. The city has a proven ability to undertake and implement projects and programs that benefit its current and future residents. The demographic profile is mostly young families and retiring baby boomers.
Like Bend, Redmond’s population has roughly tripled in the over the last thirty years, but unlike Bend, Redmond’s population has seen steady growth – increasing slightly each year. This growth has helped transform the community into a rejuvenated town with brewpubs, a new high school, upscale restaurants & lodging, as well as a number of new retail locations. On top of that, you’ll find a growing antique and art scene, a winter ice rink, a summer farmer’s market, and several open-air music events.
Like other central Oregon cities and towns, Redmond offers abundant recreation opportunities in all directions – including the world-renowned climbing destination of Smith Rock State Park.
